  • Sisse Egeberg has been practicing kendo since september 2020. She trained in Okinawa empty hand for several years before hand and has a deep respect for Japan and martial arts culture. She is Roninkais current chairman and a strong senpai for all the club members. In fact, every other week she leads Tuesday keiko when Momo-sensei goes to judo. She is the most dedicated student, coming to training after work, tired in body and soul after a double digit shift, but always ready to do kendo all the same. Sisse is the one who always brings guests to and from the dojo and picks up the teenagers from their houses for training. She is a very enthusiastic kendo evangelist and proponent of a good attendance record for keiko. Without Sisse, Roninkai would definitely not be the same club.

Sascha Nielsen has trained kendo since May 2020. She is one of Roninkai’s original first three students and was Roninkai’s first chairman. She did not plan to actually stick with kendo, but just train long enough to convince Momo to help her with her Japanese culture course, but she discovered it to be the first form of exercise she actually enjoys and loves the health benefits. She is known for her many different colored kendo uniforms including a red hakama.

Ulla Neubauer loves exotic sports and camradery. She is Roninkai’s vice chairman. She started in August 2021

Lukas Patel has trained kendo since June 2021. He was the first teenager to actually stick with it for more than a season and rarely misses practice. He is now 3kyu, the second highest ranked student in the dojo and a good role model for all the new teens.

Klaus Ambrass does kendo because he’s always liked sports and it’s a good alternative, since he can’t train judo anymore. It is exciting, challenging and good body conditioning.

Torben Smith has done mideval and show fighting for over 20 years. He has dabbled in various martial arts including archery, karate, aikido, boxing, fencing, American football and competitive body building. har lavet middelalder kamp og show kamp i over 20 år. Derudover han kan prøvet flere forskellige sportsgrene gennem årene, alt fra bueskydning, karate, aikido, boksning, fægtning, amerikansk fodbold og konkurrence bodybuilding.   Kendo for him is a further expansion of his martial repetoire for both competitions and showmanship. He thinks Roninkai is a really lovely place to train.

Kristine Hermansen has trained karate and many other forms of physical exertion as well as has taught many different kind. She started kendo, because it looked fun and is a particularly inclusive activity.

Matsubokkuri started kendo because one of his ny students was a kendoka from Japan. He is a big fan of Japanese culture and thinks it’s fun to practice.

August Sørensen tried kendo in summer 2022, when the club held an activity as part of the Active Vacation Days program. Now he goes to kendo because it is fun and cool.

Jens-Peter Sørensen goes to kendo because he thinks it’s fun exercise and nice to have an activity he can do with his son August.

Kasper Budtz started after he tried kendo as part of Active Vacation Days. He was not so serious about it and spent a lot of time goofing around until a strong kendoka visited the dojo and the level of training was increased. He realized how challenging kendo can be and hs been one of the most devoted students ever since.

Yuri Numao is a student from Japan. She loves kendo and has trained it most of her life. She brought her bogu all the way to Denmark and is very glad to have a chance to continue sining her shinai here.

Beatrix Skiba is Roninkai’s youngest member. She started when set was just 4. She is now 5 and trains not just because it makes her mom happy, but also because it’s fun to hit grown ups with a sword and wear cool clothes. She wants most of all to find another kid to train with.

Isaac Ploughman loves anime like Demon Slayer. His friend’s mom Sisse suggested he try kendo on Halloween and thus he joined. He likes the community best and is always really glad to come participate.
